Spirit in the Dark: What Could Have Been

Spirit in the dark

There have been few tragedies more devastating than the demise of Lindsay Lohan‘s ill-fated third (yes third!) studio album, Spirit in the Dark.

Like most teenaged girls in the early 2000’s, I was a Lindsay Lohan fan. I had her movies, I had her haircut, and I had her studio albums. I think it took me until 2006 to realize that Lindsay was a trashy musical goddess, when ‘Herbie: Fully Loaded‘ came out where she played a stick-figure and was all “I wanna cum first”. But first, there was “Rumors“.

Home girl was living my best life now, then, in 2005. I was hooked, immediately, and when I heard she was recording an album titled Spirit in the Dark with production from Pharrell, Danja, Timbaland, & Tricky Stewart, to name a few, I was practically foaming at the mouth.

In the summer of 2008 the gay gods of trash smiled upon us with the release of “Bossy“, a stunner that saw Lindsay casually singing, in-between bumps (allegedly), about how it was her world and we were all living in it. The song was produced by Stargate, and it is dark synth heaven. Perfect for all of your after hours outings in 2008.

The album was supposed to be released on November of 2008, but Lindsay fell into a deep and fierce K hole, and experts say she has been in a cocoon off the coast of Mykonos since 2009, only to awaken to film one season of her reality show: ‘Lohan Beach House‘. Well, the gay panic is over, because Ms. Lohan has been “hard” at work on a new project, and we just got the first sample of what she’s been working on, and it’s cute!

The song is titled “Xanax“, of course, and its about anxiety or whatever and just realizing stuff and junk. Listen Here!

You’re like Xanax to me

When you kiss me I can’t breathe
