I am HUGE fan of R&B, and Brandy, so today’s Hump Day Treat comes from her critically acclaimed yet somehow vastly underrated fourth studio album Afrodisiac.
I was minding my own business this weekend, leaving work and walking to my car with my music on shuffle, when I noticed the voice of an angel (on a Timbaland-produced beat no less). I paused my music and looked around, trying to find the source of the sound. Perplexed, I furrowed my brow and pressed play. The voice of an angel was back! I looked at my phone and staring back at me was the Afrodisiac album cover with a Brandy, clearly feeling herself, practically saying “You’re Welcome”. The song in question? “Sadiddy”
The track starts with an instantly recognizable Timbaland arrangement, reminiscent of the early 2000’s. In the 30 seconds of instrumental leading up to her entrance, you can practically hear Brandy walking past club security, down a metal spiral staircase, and onto some sweaty dark dance floor, before she lets us have it.
You can’t deny it a little bit
All the lies, all the little shit
I’ve worked for mines
You’ll get none of it
She owns everything, but she’ll let you have some, shit. Just stop being a fuck boi for two seconds, get out of your feelings, give credit where its due, and she’ll hook it the fuck up; she ain’t sadiddy. Fall back insecure haters and step your bussy up.
