I have a confession: I had no fucking clue what a Camila Cabello was until homegirl left Fifth Harmony, causing the band to scramble and rebrand as Fourth Melody. I digress…. I was all, “Sure, Jan”, let’s see what you got. And bitch…
First there was Crying in the Club, which was an anthem, well, my anthem, that piqued my interest and made me pay attention to her. Then she went and released Never Be the Same and I was sold. Fast forward to a year later, and I am still stanning tracks from her debut album. This is where In the Dark comes in. The song is a jam! It’s a slow jam with a pulsating R&B beat that sees Camila lamenting about some fuck boi with a big dick and tattoos who is emotionally unavailable because if she’s like me, she sure knows how to pick men *cough Shawn Mendes cough*.
Who are you when it’s 3 am and you’re all alone
And LA doesn’t feel like home
While recording the album she said she wanted every track to be single-worthy, and it shows. Whether or not she was successful in doing so is TBD. Take a listen:
