Premiere: Gwen Returns With…

A tribal inspired mid tempo pop gem known as “Baby Don’t Lie”. This song is giving me Nelly Furtado “All Good Things…Come To An End” realness with its infectious beat and catchy chorus. This is Gwen’s first release since 2006’s The Sweet Escape, and I must say that I am here for it.

Produced by Ryan Tedder and Benny Blanco, the song starts off with a stomping beat before firing off into a dreamy, tribal-inspired, mid tempo affair. I must say that this is not what I was expecting from Gwen, but it is welcome. We were all expecting something in the form of a banger that we can CrossFit to, but this will do nicely. The lyrics, production, and delivery are pop perfection. She has managed to stay current and might I say even a bit ahead of the game with this ode to not lying.

This is probably just a buzz single to get fans exposed to her new work, as is the new trend in today’s pop scene. An announcement is sure to come in the next few days/weeks. We can definitely expect to hear something much more in the vein of a banger on her next release. Gwen loves to put on a show, and I am on the edge of my seat in anticipation. Be the judge.

Her as-of-yet untitled third studio album will be released in Q4 or Q1 of next year, and will be executive produced by the wonderful Benny Blanco. Praise be to the L.A.M.B Goddess.
